Our Favorite New 2018 Perennials


A new season of planting is here, and with it, brand new perennial varieties to ooh and ahh over.

Whether you have lots of sun, lots of shade, or a little bit of both, this new selection has something for every gardener.

Acanthus ‘Whitewater’

Shade alert! This new variety of Acanthus will brighten up those areas of your yard with its bold leaves. And check out the pink and cream flower stalks:

  • This particular variety was bred for more vigor, hardiness, and heat and humidity tolerance
  • The color contrast of the deeply cut white margins in the leaves with the soft pink color of the flower stalks

Agastache ‘Kudos Mandarin’ and ‘Kudos Coral’

The breeding of this new perennial has increased the range of conditions that orange Agastache thrive in. And, it’s sweetly scented and blooms all summer.

Astilbe ‘Purple Rain’ (RIP, Prince)

Another shade alert!

This new Astilbe variety is another healthy, vigorous performer. Check out the fluffy plumes of lavender and the elegant, lacy green leaves!
